How to use this book: the three-pass method
The eighty-page spine drawn three times in stacked lanes labeled MAP, DRILL and RECALL, each lane shading only the pages that pass touches.
An unfinished review book is worth nothing on exam day. So this book is built to be finished three times, quickly, in a fixed order.
Pass one — MAP
- Read pages 1 through 59 straight through, in one or two sittings.
- No notes. No highlighting. No stopping to look anything up, however much it itches.
- The job is to learn the shape of the exam and the grammar of the page, not to memorize a single fact. You are building the shelf, not stocking it.
- Tick the section bands on page 3 as you clear them.
Pass two — DRILL
- Work pages 60 through 75 with a pen in your hand.
- Three unfolding cases and three question sets. Answer every item before you read one word of rationale.
- Score into the diagnostic scorecard on page 76, question by question, not section by section.
- Every miss produces a pointer chip to the companion book that owns the gap. Write the chip down; that list is your pass three.
Pass three — RECALL
- Return only to the rapid pages your scorecard flagged, plus pages 76 through 80.
- Cover each rapid strip, say the exam hook out loud, then uncover and check yourself.
- Close with the one-page everything card on page 80.
Time budget
| Pass | Time | Pages |
|---|---|---|
| MAP | about 3 hours | 1–59 |
| DRILL | about 5 hours, two sittings | 60–75 |
| RECALL | about 2 hours, final week | flagged pages + 76–80 |
Watch outDo not highlight during pass one. Do not read a rationale before you have answered. Do not start with the systems map because it feels productive.
Margin notereading it twice is not the same as answering it once.
TakeawayRead for shape, answer under pressure, then recall against the clock, in that order. → BOOK 01 · P77 · → BOOK 16 · P3
